The six year difference

Six years ago, Clint and I met up for our first date at Starbucks.  It was long and leisurely as we sipped our drinks and chatted.

Fast forward six years and here we are on a lunch break (and also a chance to pick up the car that’s been in the shop for what feels like an entire year) to celebrate with our 27 month old and 3 week old boys.  There is nothing leisurely about this Starbucks stop.  It is celebratory but brief as needs-a-nap toddler starts self-destructing and trying to grab all of the gift cards and Starbucks stuff in sight.  A kind man collected his stuff in order to give up one of the cushy chairs for us.  Said husband: Seriously sir, we aren’t going to make it more than two minutes.  And he was right.

But that first date six years ago is definitely still worth celebrating, no matter how brief the coffee break was.
